Three Thai boxers from the Kao Loi Thai Boxing Club at Hornbeam Park have returned from the World Championships in Thailand with one bronze and two silver medals.
Jak Wright, Josh Buckle, and Sarah Gibbs were part of an England Team at their first major championships.
Wright won bronze, with Buckle and Gibbs returning with silver.
Wright fought in the semi final against an opponent who was significantly more experienced, but took the fight to the Ukranian throughout.
He lost a points decision but secured the bronze medal. Buckle ensured the silver with a hard semi final win against a Korean fighter.
However due to the injuries he received in this bout he could not compete in the final. Gibbs did compete in the final and faced the current World Champion from Hungary.
She pushed her hard all the way, and although losing on points, showed that she is a force to be reckoned with in this weight category.
Coach Pierre Mahon said “I am really pleased with the guys.
“They have gone abroad for the first time to their first major championships and put in personal best performances.
“I could not have asked for any more from them.”
