VIDEO: Yorkshire Cup victory ‘icing on the cake’ for Harrogate
Director of rugby Mike Aspinall said Harrogate’s thrilling victory in Thursday night’s Yorkshire Cup final was down to his squad “wanting it more” than opposition Wharfedale.
Harrogate shocked the National One side 16-12 at West Park Leeds, thanks to Sam Bottomley’s second half try and Callum Irvine’s perfect kicking.
The win gave Gate a first county triumph in 12 years, on the 110th anniversary of their very first Yorkshire Cup final.
