Just two days before the Olympic Torch entered North Yorkshire for the first time, schools from all around the county were taking part in North Yorkshire’s own Olympic inspired event.

This was part of the first event in the ‘Golden Month of Sport’ in the North Yorkshire School Games

The North Yorkshire Swimming Finals were held at the Hydro Pool in Harrogate with around 150 swimmers competing in year 5/6, year 7/8 and year 9/10/11 age groups, and all teams were there having finished first in district level competitions. The Harrogate team finished first in all age groups. On hand to inspire the participants was former Great Britain Commonwealth and Olympic swimmer Chris Cook
