Former Ripon captain Adam Scott-Paul has announced his retirement after sustaining an injury in last month’s narrow victory against Pontefract.
Director of rugby Ian Hassall was keen to tap into the forward’s experience and bring him back to the club as a coach in the future.
The director of rugby said: “He has been a great character for Ripon, in a nice way. He leads from the front.
“It’s a sad loss for the club but hopefully we can get him involved in other ways.
“When he has got over the disappointment, we want to get him down and involved in coaching because he has been a great servant to the club.”
The back-row forward has reverted to a front-row position for Ripon over the last two seasons.
Hassall added: “Last year we would have struggled with an absence like Adam’s but there are a few players in the second team already holding their hand up.”
