Knaresborough were brought back down to earth on Saturday, after a 38-13 defeat at home to table toppers Wensleydale.

The Yorkshire Five leaders were the stronger side, and took the lead after three mins with a penalty but this was soon cancelled out by a Knaresborough penalty.

After some good forward work, Knaresborough started to dominate the pack and from a strong lineout drove Dale back 20 metres and Rawlings crashed over in the corner.

Dale then applied pressure with some lightning backs handling, landing two more penalties to edge in front.

After another strong lineout with Hall dominant, Bird crashed through to score, but was out for the remainder of the game with a hamstring injury.

This put Knaresborough in front but just before the break a great individual try for Dale’s scrum half saw him race down the blind side from half way and score in the corner.

The half time whistle meant Dale were up 17-13 and all to play for.

Within five minutes of the restart, Knaresborough lost Olesqui from the front row and two further injuries meant their whole shape had gone.

Dale ran in two quick converted tries to gain a strong lead, and after intercepting a ball inside Knaresborough’s 22, they scored under the posts for a comfortable win .
