A LAST minute Otley victory relegated Harrogate from National Two North amid emotional scenes at Claro Road.

‘Gate simply had to win their final fixture of the season against Leicester Lions.

They kept their part of the bargain by pulling off an excellent 25-21 victory in hellish conditions for rugby.

However, Otley’s last gasp 38-39 win at Hull Ionians ended ’Gate’s stay in the division.

An emotional Graham Siswick paid tribute to his players who worked their socks off. ‘Gate’s run of three straight wins over Caldy, Kendal and Leicester still wasn’t enough to keep them up.

It was a different story for HARROGATE TOWN who thrashed Corby Town 5-0 to secure their Blue Square North status.

Before kick-off Town knew what they needed to do with Simon Weaver’s men sitting one place and one point above Hinckley in the table.

Richard Pell put Town into the lead after the break after a nervous first half.

Paul Bolland made it 2-0 before further goals by Jonny Allan, Pell and Tom Platt sealed the excellent win.

With results going their way Town finished the campaign in 14th.
