Theakston Nidderdale League: Joe Furniss and Chris Gill shine as Darley CC crush Burton Leonard

Darley CC demolished Burton Leonard to open up a seven-point lead at the top of Theakston Nidderdale League Division One.

In what was one of only two of week four’s six top-flight fixtures to reach a conclusion, Duncan Naylor’s troops got rid of their visitors for just 119 having won the toss and elected to field.

Joe Furniss was in superb form with ball in hand, ripping through the Burton batting line-up on his way to figures of 6-60.

Max Crompton (49) and Sam Crawshaw (41) offered some resistance, though no other away batsman made it into double-figures.

Chris Gill then smashed 10 fours and five sixes in a stunning knock of 81 from only 33 deliveries to seal a nine-wicket success for Darley in just 10 overs.

Jonathan Webb produced a devastating spell of bowling to lead Ouseburn to a 50-run triumph over winless Blubberhouses.

His nine-over spell of 7-29 helped get rid of the home side with just 104 to their name despite a defiant 56 from Sajid Khan.

Earlier, captain Adam Fisher hit 39 as Ouseburn posted 154/9 in 36 overs, Umaid Sajjad capturing four of the wickets to fall.

Second-placed Birstwith's batsmen got them into a decent position at home to Pateley Bridge.

James Riley (65), Craig Robinson (55) and Pete Hardisty (49 not out) all shone as the hosts reached 281/5 from 43 overs. The Badgers made it to 42/0 in reply before the rain came.

Masham were 124/5 at Helperby when that game was abandoned, Kieran Wordsworth making 54.

West Tanfield had 101/4 on the board at home to Kirk Deighton, while just two overs were possible in the fixture between Goldsborough and Harrogate 3rd XI.
