Theakston Nidderdale League: A win at last for Harrogate CC 3rd XI

Earlier in the day, Matthew Leatham (50) made a half-century as the struggling visitors posted 205/8 from their 45 overs, Juvan Gericke (4-41) the pick of the Tanfield attack.

At the other end of the table, Helperby reclaimed top-spot after beating rock-bottom Burton Leonard.

Openers Joe Corner (61) and Luis Rees-Hughes (38) put on 126 for the opening wicket as the visitors reached 223/4, skipper Dan Marston adding a quick-fire 38 later in the innings.

Sam Crawshaw (57), Sam Crompton (35) and Jake Wilson (30 not out) did their best to get Burton to their target, though 4-35 from Corner helped ensure that they did not progress any further than 162 all out.

Birstwith’s comfortable victory at Masham moves them up to second position.

Craig Robinson (81), Sam Ryan (63) and James Riley (33) were all in decent touch, steering the visitors to 228 all out in the face of a fine spell of bowling by Craig Broadley, who grabbed 7-33.

Sam Ambler struck 53 in response and Joe O’Keefe added 34, however a five-wicket haul for Ryan ensured that Masham were sent on their way with only 161 to their name.

Mark McEneaney was the star of the show for Blubberhouses during their eight-wicket home success against Pateley Bridge.

He effected four dismissals to help get rid of the Badgers on 141, captain Bash Khan bagging 3-41.

McEneaney then blasted 11 sixes and nine fours in an unbeaten 109, completing a rapid run-chase inside 20 overs.

Richard Ward was another batsman to score a ton as Kirk Deighton overcame Ouseburn in what was something of a run-fest.

His knock of 126 not out paved the way for the away side to post 280/6, Louis Toseland (42) and Will Wade (32) also doing their bit.

Openers Pete Carr (64) and Adam Fisher (49) got the Ouseburn reply off to a positive start, yet although John Moorhouse went on to add 39, a trio of wickets apiece for Michael Malthouse and all-rounder Ward meant that their reply did not get beyond 252.
