Rudding Park Golf Club members' 70-mile Cycle Challenge raises funds for Saint Michael’s Hospice
A group of golfers from Rudding Park GC jumped on their bikes to raise a substantial sum of cash for charity.
Lady Captain Katherine Fenton marked her 70th birthday by leading fellow members in a remarkable fundraising feat, with more than £4,000 generated in aid of Saint Michael’s Hospice.

Cyclists, volunteers, and supporters gathered at the club earlier this month for the 70-mile Cycle Challenge, with the intention of doing their bit for the Harrogate charity that supports people in the local area living with terminal illness and bereavement.
The challenge invited participants of all abilities – whether tackling the full 70-mile route, joining as a static cyclist in the clubhouse, or lending a hand as a volunteer.
Those who took to the local roads had to brace tough weather conditions, but support teams were on hand to ensure the safety of riders along the route, while other volunteers offered encouragement, and the golf team kept everyone hydrated.
Easingwold Golf Club and Pike Hills Golf Club also helped out on the day, hosting essential pit stops, which provided much-needed respite and provisions for the cyclists.
Celebrations continued in the Rudding Park clubhouse from 2pm, where returning cyclists were greeted by supporters.
Speaking after the funds raised had been counted up, Lady Captain Fenton expressed her heartfelt gratitude to everybody who contributed.
“The response was overwhelming,” she said. “The collective effort and enthusiasm on display underscored the event’s success and the importance of coming together for a good cause.
“A huge thank you goes to everyone who made this possible - the cyclists, static bike riders, volunteers, support teams, and every single donor.
“This was a real team effort from start to finish, and we’re incredibly grateful for all the support for such an important cause.”
