Harrogate CC and Knaresborough CC's 1st XIs lose out in Yorkshire Premier League North Premier Division

Harrogate CC’s 1st XI suffered a fourth consecutive Yorkshire Premier League North Premier Division defeat on Saturday afternoon.

The Roosters were bowled out for just 130 by local rivals York, Arjun Ramkumar (38) and Harry Allinson (34) the only visiting batsmen to make any kind of an impression on the game.

The home side then cruised to an eight-wicket success in 31.2 overs, with that loss seeing ‘Gate drop to sixth place in the table.

Knaresborough sit one place further down the division after they were also knocked over for an extremely low score.

Greg Pickles’ men could only muster a total of 104 all out at home to Clifton Alliance, who required less than 19 overs to knock off the required runs despite the efforts of James Wade (3-34).

Inconsistent Harrogate 2nds made a return to winning ways in Premier Division Two courtesy of their 108-run demolition of York 2nds.

Ash Griffin led the way with a knock of 61 not out as the hosts put 189 all out on the board.

George Lamb (3-9), William Harwood (3-9) and Pavan Seneviratne (3-20) then shone with the ball to get rid of York for just 81.

Saturday’s victory leaves Harrogate sixth in the second-tier standings.

Second-placed Sessay remain on track for an immediate return to the Premier Division after they chalked up another win, at home to Easingwold.

Will Jenkins snapped up 4-43 as the away team were all out for 208.

Ayana Siriwardhana (64), Henry Stephens (56 not out) and captain Mark Jackson (35) then all contributed as the Thirsk outfit chased that total down in the 48th over with five wickets still in hand.

Beckwithshaw surrendered top spot in Championship West after they were beaten for just the second time since making the switch from the Airedale & Wharfedale League.

The Stags will have felt very much in the game at its midway point with Oulton all out for 208 thanks largely to some fine bowling by Lewis Hughes, who grabbed four of the wickets to fall, and Ben Holderness, who took three.

Oliver Hebblethwaite weighed in with a superb 72 when ‘Shaw replied, though he received very little by way of support and the away innings failed to progress any further than 133.

Studley Royal capitalised on that slip-up to move into second spot thanks to their comprehensive nine-wicket success over Thirsk.

Leo Wilson claimed 3-25 as the visitors were sent back to the pavilion with 173 to their name.

Openers Rob Nicholson (69) and skipper Jonny Harding (57 not out) then guided Studley to 174/1 inside 39 overs.

Fourth-placed Arthington recorded a 49-run win on the road at South Milford.

Sourav Chandolia (54) and Hari Mandora (49) top-scored as the away side posted 246/9 in 50 overs.

And Colton’s reply ended with them well short of where they needed to be, on 197 all out.

Bilton In Ainsty extended their winning streak into a fifth game when they crushed Whitkirk.

The Frogs racked up a hefty first-innings total of 291/9, Dom Exton smashing 101 alongside Tom Main, who made 44.

Tim Lambert then scooped 4-35 to help send Whitkirk packing on 145, with that result leaving Bilton sixth in the table.

Eighth-placed Knaresborough 2nds went down by 153 runs at Bolton Percy having been bowled out for just 117.

Sam Baines impressed with the ball, taking five scalps, while Joe Preece (53) hit a defiant half-century.

One place worse off in the division are Sessay 2nds, who suffered an even tougher afternoon at Colton Institute where they were skittled for 77 chasing 239 all out.

Dave Johnson (4-49) and Lee Margerison (3-54) bowled well enough for the visitors, however their efforts proved to be in vain.
