Airedale & Wharfedale League: Bilton CC win again as Beckwithshaw stutter

Awais Ejaz took five wickets to help Bilton CC get the better of Addingham.

David Cummings’ men, currently second in the table with five victories from as many completed fixtures, beat Addingham by 66 runs to keep up the pressure on leaders Saltaire.

Captain Cummings led the way with a knock of 56 at the top of the order, Jamie Bryant adding 30 in the hosts’ total of 159/8 from their 50 overs.

Awais Ejaz then produced a stunning spell of bowling, taking 5-28 in nine overs to help send Addingham packing with just 93 on the board.

Beckwithshaw suffered their third defeat of the season having been skittled for 70 by top-of-the-table Saltaire.

Peter Hotchkiss struck a defiant 31, but that was as good as it got for the Killinghall Road outfit, who were all out inside 28 overs.

Joe Holderness bagged a couple of early scalps as the visitors replied, though they required just 68 deliveries to complete a routine seven-wicket success.

Defeat sees ‘Shaw drop to fifth in the top-flight standings.

Collingham & Linton climbed up to fourth place courtesy of an impressive performance against defending champions Otley.

Jonny Haslem (50) and Jack McGahan (48) batted well to lead the home team to 191/8 after they won the toss.

A five-wicket haul for David Syers (5-41) then helped get rid of Otley for 156, Mark Dixon also contributing with 3-31.

In Division Two, Follifoot made a return to winning ways when they travelled to Guiseley.

At 49/5, Nick Robinson’s team looked to be in a position of peril, but a lower-order fightback led by Istikhar Hussain (57) eventually got the visitors to a more-than-useful 198 all out.

All-rounder Hussain then completed an excellent afternoon’s work by scooping 5-32, while Josh Cutts claimed 3-38 as Guiseley were dismissed on132.

Elsewhere, Bardsey routed Adel on home soil.

Waqas Rasheed took four scalps to help bowl the away team out for 112 before opening pair Gary Hopton (53 not out) and Tom Clayton (33 not out) steered their team to a 10-wicket triumph inside 22 overs.
