Linfoot crashed out of practice at Brands Hatch on Friday and broke two bones in his wrist. The Knaresborough rider had to watch on from the sidelines as the second round of action unfolded over the weekend.

He will have an operation at Harrogate Hospital today and faces six weeks on the sideline.

However, he hopes the injury will only force him out of one more race weekend, with the Superbikes season taking a six-week break after this weekend’s event at Oulton Park.

The Honda Racing rider sits fifth in the championships after the opening two race meetings, after achieving his first ever second placed finish at the opening race at Donnington Park.

He said: “It’s not ideal to miss out on two races but fortunately after the next race there’s a six week gap until the next one. That obviously fits in very well.”

Brands Hatch was also the track that Linfoot had a horror smash when racing for Yamaha two years ago, a crash that completely ruining his season.

“It looks like Brands Hatch Indy doesn’t quite like me,” he added.

“It was the 11th lap of practice and I was just getting down to running decent lap times after getting into the swing of the track. When I released the throttle out of third gear, the rear let go and he smacked me over the handle bars.

“There’s disappointment from the mechanics and the whole team who have worked really hard over the winter. But they have all been looking out for me in the best way.”
