Harrogate Shotokan Karate Club and Boston Spa Karate Club have a new black belt to add to their ranks.

Nine-year-old Page Evens, a pupil at Bilton Grange Primary School, gained the converted grade.

Page has been training for three years and completed the gruelling examination after a 3.5 hour training session taken by Alan Campbell Sensei 6th Dan and Shinji Nagaki 5th Dan.

The examination was taken by the senior JKS England instructors, Sensei Alan Campbell 6th Dan, Matt Price 6th Dan, Steve Carless 5th Dan and Glenn Riley 5th Dan.

These fantastic results now mean that the clubs have 81 active black belts regularly training.

This again shows why the Harrogate and Boston Clubs are regarded among the premier Shotokan Karate Clubs in the country.
