harrogate powerlifter Lynn Williams has fulfilled her ultimate dream: winning an Olympic gold medal.
The 54-year-old from Bilton stormed to victory in the powerlifting event at the 2011 Special Olympics World Summer Games, held in Athens last week.
But she didn’t stop there.
As Britain’s oldest competitor, she returned from the Games with a an incredible total haul of three medals, one gold, one silver and one bronze.
Lynn has spent four years training for her Athens adventure, and was selected for Team GB after a impressive display at the 2009 Great Britain National Summer Games where she earned four gold medals.
