Sprint star Naana Adusei ran one of the four legs as Great Britain fell just short of gold in the 200 metres relay.

Competing in the Womens over 35 category, Adusei teamed up with Zoe Doyle, Joanne Frost and Susie McLoughlin to finish less than a second behind host nation Italy.

The GB women beat Spain to the silver medal, with quartets from Germany, Latvia, Belgium and Poland also behind.

Adusei also powered into the final of the individual 60m sprint but came last in the final despite setting a personal best of 8.38sec.

She fell just four tenths off a place in a third final as her bid to reach the 200m showpiece came to an end at the semi-final stage after clocking 27.68sec.

Adusei said: “It was a fantastic experience.

“It was just like going and watching an Olympic event and I was actually in it.

“The adrenaline was pumping and the whole event was just amazing.”

Her performances add to what has already been a successful season for the Leeds City Athletics Club runner.

She has already won her category in the national 200 metres outdoor race and won silver in the national indoor 200 metres.

The 36-year-old, who has been running since she was 11, aims to defend her national outdoor 200m title this summer before taking on the world later in the year.

The 2016 World Masters Championships will take place in Perth, Australia in November.
