The Halifax and Huddersfield Union’s junior team are celebrating an impressive 26-10 win over Sheffield at Fixby yesterday.
Sheffield have tasted a lot of success over the years but they were blown away in the morning foursomes, which finished 11-1 in favour of the hosts.
Halifax-Huddersfield kept up the good work after lunch when they won seven and halved one of the 12 singles contests.
Organiser Bob Hazelden said: “It was a great team effort with the early players who had won their singles matches going out to give support in the incoming matches, which were still in the balance.”
Hazelden aid it was only the second ever victory for the juniors over Sheffield. The first had come in 2009 when current senior team boss Frank Greaves was in charge and the president was the late Phillip Walton of Meltham.
