Harrogate climb to second place in YIDU Junior league table

HARROGATE have moved into second place in the Yorkshire Inter District Union Junior League, two points behind leaders Leeds.

They won 21-15 away to Sheffield at Dore & Totley, their victory due to the foundations laid by a 10-2 advantage from the foursomes.

Sheffield responded to take the singles 13-11, Sam Rook (Tankersley Park) adding a 4&3 win over Pannal’s Oliver Abott to the 5&4 foursomes triumph he enjoyed in tandem with Connor Newsome (Hallamshire).

Robert Nesbitt (Ilkley), Nathan Seal (Knaresborough) and Will Eardley (Pannal) secured foursomes and singles victories for Harrogate.

York gained their first points of the season by edging Halifax-Huddersfield 19-17 at Sandburn Hall.

The foursomes provided an indication of how well-matched the two sides were, finishing 6-6. York then took the singles 13-11.

Ben Statters (Easingwold), George Atkinson (Pike Hills) and Jacob Scargill (Sandburn Hall) won in both the foursomes and singles, Bradley Hall duo Elliott Lister and Joe Lowson doing likewise for Halifax-Huddersfield.
