Knaresborough's John Parry is hoping a change of clubs can lead him to a first tournament win since 2009.

Parry has changed equipment for the first time since he turned professional.

However, the 27-year-old's new clubs have yet to have had the desired effect and he missed the cut in his first European Tour event of the year at the BMW South Africa Open last week.

Parry has been spending this week working with coach Hugh Marr in Dubai to get used to his new irons and woods.

“I’m very excited for the 2016 season,” Parry said.

“I feel like the technical aspects of my swing are coming together, which I expect to pay dividends this year.

“I have already played two events in South Africa, which have not quite gone as I hoped, but the only reason we’ve put these in to this years schedule is I’ve changed equipment for the first time since I turned pro.

“I’ve switched to Taylormade, which has seen me gain significant yardage with each club, so I’m getting used to playing courses from different position.”

Parry enjoyed a return to form in 2015 and ended the year inside the world’s top 400.

Glory is once again in his eyes for the upcoming calendar

He said: “My goals are to win at least once this year and push towards the world top 100. I feel these are realistic and well within reach. Very excited to get going and see what’s in store.”

“I have a week off to practice in Dubai with my coach, Hugh Marr, just to tighten up a few loose areas, then head to Abu Dhabi for the start of the big money events.

“I feel like after this week I will be ready to go, knocked off all the winter rust and start to build on what I hope will be my successful season to date.”
