HARROGATE coach Gary Nash couldn’t hide his excitement after signing goal-machine Luke Lambert from Ben Rhydding this week.
The 27-year-old will come straight into his squad for tomorrow’s important home clash against Sunderland (1.30pm pushback).
“It’s a real coup for the club,” said Nash.
“We were a good side before but adding Luke just makes us even better. It’s really exciting.
“He’s got some great skills and he’s good in front of goal. I’m really excited to see him link up with Steve Couture and hopefully they will form a good partnership.”
‘Gate got back to winning ways on Saturday with a 6-1 thrashing of Durham.
Goals by Charles Edmondson (2), Couture (2) and a brace by Simon Lockwood either side of the break sealed the win.
Nash has challenged his men to find the same level of performance against a stubborn Sunderland side.
“Sunderland have the best defensive record in the league but the worst scoring record,” he continued.
“We will expect them to be tight at the back, well-organised and put men behind the ball.
“But it’s a big game for us, they are currently two points behind us and we can pull away from them a little bit if we win. Hopefully there will be a big crowd down there.”
As for Saturday’s game he said: “It was an excellent performance.
“I was delighted with them.”
Nash is waiting on the fitness of Mike Sedcole tomorrow.
