Will Rogers’ team began the North Division One clash brightly and took the lead through Charles Edmondson.

A contentious decision to award the hosts a short-corner then paved the way for them to level the scores at 1-1 and both sides created chances to add to their tallies in an eventful end to the opening period.

A dreadful spell straight after the resumption saw ‘Gate concede three goals in the space of just five minutes, leaving them with a mountain to climb.

Skipper Rogers offered a glimmer of hope when registered from a short-corner to reduce the arrears, but Lindum added two more goals on the counter-attack in the closing stages to seal a 6-2 triumph.

‘Gate 2s played out a 2-2 draw at home to Lindum 2s.

Russ Bowen finished off Josh Lyon’s goalbound strike to give the hosts the lead, but the away team levelled matters before the break.

Bowen restored the home advantage in the second period, but Lindum again recovered, hitting back to earn themselves a point.
