York City midfielder Tom Platt to join Harrogate Town on loan for fifth time

Tom Platt has had four previous spells on loan at Harrogate Town

Platt trained at the CNG Stadium on Tuesday night and will be in contention to face FC United of Manchester on Saturday.

The 22-year-old made six appearances for Town earlier this season and also had three spells at the club between 2012 and 2013.

Town have been discussing the possibility of bringing the midfielder to the club since new boss Jackie McNamara placed him on a list of unwanted players at the Minstermen.

The club was awaiting confirmation from the Fooball Conference on Wednesday after submitting paperwork to complete the capture.

Boss Simon Weaver said: "We thought we would need strength in depth in the midfield because we have a lot of games coming up.

"Tom has done well for me every time he has been at the club - we trust him as a lad and as a player."

Platt has found himself cast aside in York's relegation battle since the arrival of McNamara.

But he will be joining a buoyant set-up at the CNG Stadium following Saturday's thumping 6-0 win over National League North leaders Solihull Moors.

Platt may have to wait for his chance to earn a starting shirt at Town, however, with Weaver likely to retain the same midfield trio – Lloyd Kerry, Paul Thirlwell and Warren Burell - which performed so dominantly.

Weaver said he had no concerns over Platt's lack of game time at York, and said he was at the forefront of the fitness drills in training on Tuesday.

The boss added: "He has been through a difficult time and not played a lot of football. He needs to be involved in a match day at his stage in his career.

"Because of Tom's attitude we know he is going to turn it around and do well."
