The Forest Green Rovers striker, who spent two months on loan with the Sulphurites earlier this year, visited his former team-mates as they prepared for Saturday's League Two trip to Carlisle United.

But Town manager Simon Weaver insisted that nothing should be read into March's presence at the club's Leeds base.

"The only reason he was there was because he had been up to see his specialist about his knee and then called in at the training ground afterwards," he told the Harrogate Advertiser.

Sulphurites chief Simon Weaver.

"It was great to see him. He's such a nice guy, always so polite and very popular among the other players."

March, 23, was due to remain with Town until the end of the campaign, however he damaged both the medial collateral ligament and cartilage inside his right knee during last month's home win over Colchester United.

The severity of his injury ruled him out until the summer and thus he returned to his parent club Forest Green to complete his rehabilitation.

Having scored five times in 14 appearances - 10 of which were starts - March made a big impression in Harrogate colours and quickly became a fans' favourite.

He is viewed by many as being a player whom the Sulphurites should look to bring back on a permanent deal in the summer, though that matter is one which Weaver said it would be inappropriate for him to comment on.

"It's such a shame that his time here was cut short. It was desperately disappointing because he did so well, and the team was performing well with him in it," the Town chief added.

"We admire him a lot as a player, but that's as much as I can say about a someone who is under contract at another club.

"It's difficult to say anymore than that because it isn't right for me to talk about someone contracted to Forest Green for another two years."
