West Yorkshire League: Knaresborough Town net first points since October

Sam Cook, Blaine Hobson and Matthew Donnelly hit the net as bottom of the league Town hit back against Leeds City in a 3-3 draw at Manse Lane on Saturday.

The three-goal half-time lead had flattered the visitors but Town showed fighting spirit to get back into the contest. Tom Clare struck the bar before Cook pulled one back in the 49th minute.

Pressure built slowly but when Blaine Hobson made it 3-2 in the 81st minute the finale was well set up. And Donnelly completed the rescue mission as he levelled the score in the 87th minute.

The Reserves also came from behind against Carlton Athletic on Tuesday night with two goals in the final 13 minutes.

First team players Ben Parkes, Jack Rushworth and Will Lenehan were all part of Chris Hirst’s squad but they couldn’t stop the title contenders going into a 2-0 lead.

However, Fraser Lancaster fired into the bottom corner in the 77th minute before Paul Atkinson levelled matters with a dipping shot five minutes later.

The Reserves travel to Kirk Deighton Rangers in a rearranged Whitworth Cup tie on Saturday.
