Bligh arrived at Knaresborough in November, after previous manager Jeff Wells sensationally quit, and went on to pick up the Whitworth Cup in April.

His side also reached the final of the league cup final which they lost to Leeds City but they bounced back strongly on Saturday, beating Horbury Town 3-0 at home.

Goals from George Eustance, Ben Joyce and Ben Locke gave Knaresborough victory and Bligh believes his side can have another great season, if they keep hold of their players.

He said: “It was disappointing to lose the cup final but Leeds City were worthy winners. It’s a great achievement for us to get that far and helped set the targets for next season.

“Planning for next season has already started and if we can keep the current calibre of players then I am confident we can have a great season.

“It will be great to have a full pre season under my belt to get them fit and focussed, it’s hard coming in half way through a season without them knowing what I want to do. It will give them time to properly prepare for the type of football I’m after.”
