Weaver keeping selection simple at Harrogate Town

Town have won their last three matches in Vanarama National North and sit fifth in the table following Monday night’s 2-1 win over Curzon Ashton.

No fresh injury doubts have arisen from the victory in the north west, and Weaver revealed his intention to maintain a consistent approach in selection.

Brendan Daniels will line up against his former clubs after an impressive start to life at Town, which has seen him score three times in four matches.

Lloyd Kerry won Tamworth’s player of the year prize two years running before arriving at Town, and will be keen to feature in Saturday’s clash.

Weaver said: “The challenge is really there to the lads to keep the momentum going.

“I can see no reason to alter the tactics with the way we have been playing,

“If we keep repeating the same things to them, they will keep getting familiar with what we want.”

It will mean prolific frontman Knowles will continue his partnership with powerhouse striker Paul Clayton up front.

Knowles drew praise from his boss for keeping his composure in the dying moments of Saturday’s 2-1 win over Hednesford, as he rounded the goalkeeper before slotting home in front of Town’s all-singing Kop.

Weaver added: “The timing of it made it a fantastic feeling for supporters and the lads were buzzing in the changing room after, especially as it had been a frustrating game.”

Those supporters were in vocal mood again at Curzon and the boss hailed the atmosphere created at the opposition’s ground, especially after his side moved on top of the table.

The boss wants another cauldron for Saturday’s clash, against a side that has also won three of their opening four fixtures of the season.

“Everyone will be pumped up for it. Both teams want to win to make a statement. We have to keep a consistent level.

“The challenge is really to the lads, can they keep it going.

“I can see no reason to alter the tactics when they are playing like this. If we keeper replicating the same things, they will keep getting familiar with what we want.”
