Town sit level with AFC Fylde in second in Vanarama National North with only Solihull Moors three points ahead of them in the table.

Brendan Daniels continued his fine scoring run with three goals in four days as Town picked up four points out of a possible six.

Weaver’s men thumped AFC Telford 4-0 away on Saturday before rescuing a point in a six-goal thriller at home to North Ferriby United on Tuesday (reports on page 119).

And the manager admitted his side were itching to continue their goalscoring form when hosting Nuneaton this Saturday.

With centre-back Danny Ellis still struggling with a groin problem, Weaver hinted at naming the same side for a third successive match.

Weaver said: “No one is getting carried away but we’ve accumulated 20 points from ten games which puts you up there up amongst it.

“We want to be chasing down Solihull, and want an exciting season and I don’t see why we can’t.

“I believe in the group. They have gelled and integrated really well and get on like a house on fire. We know what we’re about and haven’t changed the tactics once.

The boss added: “Everyone is purring at the minute. The lads are on form, and even the ones on the bench, they are waiting for their chance.

“That’s the driving force. If we tinker with it now and upset a few, it’s harsh and you run the risk of losing a few.”

Daniels now leads the league scoring charts after taking his tally to eight goals from his first ten games in a yellow and black shirt.

“And his new boss admitted the Crewe Alexandra had exceeded his expectations over the first month of the campaign

Weaver said: “We knew he had an unorthodox style and quality.

“From the first training session, I realised he would get a lot of goals in and around the ‘D’ so we have set up to allow him to drift.

“But he has probably got more than what I thought.

“He’s fortunate that he’s got an unselfish left-back in Andy McWilliams who is prepared to do 100m sprints and not got the ball.

“We are lucky to have two great full backs, and I would say Lewis Turner is the best right-back in the league at the moment.

“We have round pegs in round holes and that’s what we talked about last year. We have a much better team this year.”

Daniels led the way past Telford on Saturday with two first half goals, and the day was only soured for the Sulphurites by the dismissal of captain Dave McGurk for a second yellow.

On Saturday’s win over AFC Telford, Weaver added: “It was a really professional job against a team wanting to hold onto a glimmer. We were ruthless, which was good.

“We have to do that again and again this season.”
