VIDEO: Simon Weaver assesses Harrogate Town draw to Lowestoft Town

Simon Weaver was relieved his Harrogate Town side responded positively to his half-time switch in their 1-1 draw against Lowestoft Town.

Weaver handed a debut to new signing James Cadman at half-time, with his side 1-0 down to a Jack Ainsley penalty.

Cadman almost scored with his first touch but his half-volley was tipped onto the post by Lowestoft keeper Ashlee Jones.

Town eventually scored an equaliser in the 78th minute through Paddy McLaughlin’s header.

Cecil Nyoni could have sealed all three late on but he shot over the bar from two yards out.

After the clash, a bearded Weaver bemoaned Lowestoft’s delaying tactics throughout the match, and admitted his side were poor in the first half.

But he was impressed by Cadman’s introduction and said his side could have nicked the points.

He told the Harrogate Advertiser Series: “They responded very well. They were terrific in the second half and that was a big contrast to the first where we weren’t in control of the game.

“The elements were beating both teams, it was swirling around.

“They were here for a point, obviously, but the ball was out of play for most of the game. We had a tactical change second half and got more passes, created more chances and looked a team more in control.”
