Powerhouse Birmingham City striker Josh Andrews was unveiled as a Sulphurites player on Monday evening, having agreed a loan switch that will keep him at Wetherby Road until the end of the season.

And Town manager Simon Weaver has revealed that his phone has not stopped ringing both in the build-up to deadline day and during the final 24 hours of the window.

But, to his relief, the majority of calls he has fielded have been from agents offering him players rather than from other clubs hoping to lure members of his squad away.

"There have been a lot of phone calls, but mostly from agents offering us their clients," he told the Harrogate Advertiser.

"There were a couple that we were tempted by and did a bit of research on, and obviously we did move to bring Josh Andrews in, but he was one we'd already been speaking to Chris Curtis at Birmingham City about.

"We haven't had other clubs in for our players, however. I'm a bit surprised given the success we've had over the last few years that there haven't been more offers for some of our lads.

"But, to be honest, being selfish, I'm quite happy that nobody has tried to take any of our better players away.

"We're always straight up with the lads. If another club makes a serious approach or comes in with an offer we will always tell the individual concerned and gauge their reaction to the interest, then work out how to proceed. But this time around, there's not really been anything."

Although the transfer window is now shut for Football League and Premier League clubs, teams from the National League downwards are still able to do business.

And, should fifth-tier members vote to continue rather than terminate the 2020/21 campaign, then two Harrogate players will almost certainly depart on loan in the coming weeks.

There has been plenty of interest in centre-half Kevin Lokko and left-winger Tom Walker from a number of National League outfits, and Weaver has confirmed that he is keen for both men to go and get some game-time elsewhere.
