HARROGATE Town manager Simon Weaver has today taken his number of signings to five with the capture of the impressive Blyth Spartans duo Paul Brayson and Stephen Turnbull.

Brayson, who won last season’s golden boot award, started his career at Premiership side Newcastle United. He has also played professionally for Swansea City, Reading, Cardiff City and Cheltenham. He has played non-league football for Northwich Victoria, Gateshead, York City, Newcastle Blue Star and Durham City.

His two seasons at Blue Square Bet North rivals Blyth Spartans saw him score an impressive 60 goals in 90 appearances.

Hardworking and industrious midfielder Turnbull started his career at Hartlepool United before loan spells at Gateshead, Bury and Rochdale. He joined Gateshead permanently in 2008 before linking up with Blyth in 2009.

Harrogate’s chairman Bill Fotherby said “We’re absolutely over the moon to have signed both Paul and Stephen. Both will bring a new dimension to the team and we are licking our lips in anticipation of seeing what both players can do next season.

“I believe that this is a major statement of Harrogate Town’s intentions to mount an extremely serious challenge next season.

“It’s a huge coup.”
