In their first season in existence, Maloney’s side are closing in on a 100 per cent league record having won 15 out of 15 games to date, and were crowned champions with two rounds of the campaign still to play.

“I fully believe that this is just the start of something special,” Maloney said.

“The girls have done brilliantly this season and we’re confident as we move fowards.

“We’ve got a really talented squad with a great collective attitude and I think that there is an exciting journey ahead of us.

“We will be playing our football in the North East Regional Womens Football League next season and with the players we have, I’m confident that we will do well.”

Avoiding defeat in their final game of 2016/17 at Stokesley Ladies on March 26 will see Town go down in history as ‘invincibles’ - unbeaten throughout an entire season.

And although the championship is already wrapped up and promotion secured, Maloney says that his players are determined to finish the campaign with their perfect record intact.

“It’s definitely the aim to make it 16 out of 16 at Stokesley,” he added.

“Going a whole season unbeaten, let alone winning every game, is pretty rare, so it would be a huge achievement.

“The girls have to remain professional and make sure that they get the job done, but they’ve been fantastic since day one, so I’ve no doubt that they will pull it off.”
