Tadcaster Albion draw AFC Mansfield or Chadderton in FA Vase last 16

Tadcaster Albion have been handed an away fixture in the next phase of their road to Wembley.

Albion will play lower league opposition in the FA Vase last 16 after they were paired against AFC Mansfield or Chadderton.

The NCEL league leaders progressed to the competition’s fifth round for only the second time in their history with a dramatic 3-2 victory over Brocton on Saturday.

AFC Mansfield and Oldham-based Chadderton’s fourth-round tie was postponed on Saturday and has been rescheduled for Tuesday night (January 20).

Mansfield, managed by former Scarborough Athletic manager Rudy Funk, are sixth in the league directly below Albion - the Northern Counties East League Division One.

Chadderton are playing a fixture catch-up in the North West Counties League Division One, and sit fifth bottom in 15th place.

The tie will be played on February 7.

Albion last made the fifth round in 1978, when they exited the competition at the hands of Frecheville Community FC, losing 2-1.

However, the competition has gripped Tadcaster this season and boss Paul Marshall has targeted a Wembley visit alongside promotion into the Evo-Stik Leagues.

After the midday draw, Albion tweeted: “Whoever we play we will most certainly take a massive TSC following. The biggest away following for TAFC- EVER...”
