Jimmy Beadle has left Tadcaster Albion

Beadle, who is a self-employed miner and starts work in the early hours of the morning, recently suffered a back injury.

This problem, coupled with the significant amount of time he spends travelling from his home in Scarborough, has resulted in him making the decision to take a break from football, for the time being.

Beadle, who was hugely instrumental in the Brewers’ promotion from the NCEL Premier Division last season with 22 goals from midfield, said: “It’s with great regret that I’m leaving, but I’m just struggling to make the commitment that the club deserves,

“It has been an unbelievable 15 months with Taddy. I’m so grateful for the opportunity and was honoured to be captain.

“There’s an amazing spirit within the club and I’m sure it’s just going to go from strength to strength.

“I wish the club all the best for the future and hope they continue to climb the leagues.

“Thanks to Matt and Jimmy for everything they have done for me. They are two of the best blokes I have ever met and deserve all the success in the world.

“Thanks to Billy too for making me skipper.”

Albion manager Billy Miller has backed Beadle’s move.

“I fully understand and support Jimmy’s decision,” he said.

“He was one of my best ever signings, and massively influential in our triumph last year.

“His commitment and attitude have been second to none and we all wish him well for the future.”

Chairman Matt Gore added: “This has really come out of the blue and quite a shock but we fully understand his situation.

“I had a long chat with Jimmy during the week and he is a true gent.

“He has been unbelievable for the club and a brilliant captain. His goals will live long in the memory and he will go down in the club’s history.

“Who knows what the future will hold and one day we may see him return.”
