Harorgate Town gaffer Simon Weaver will not replace Alan White after the veteran defender signed a permanent deal at Darlington 1883 last week.
Weaver believes that in Adam Nowakowski and Matt Bloomers he has suitable replacements for first choice centre-backs Leigh Franks and captain Shane Killock.
White made 58 appearances for Town and scored three goals.
But the defender also gained a reputation for his heated temperament after a spate of dismissals.
His former gaffer Weaver said the 37-year-old had been given an offer he couldn’t refuse.
Weaver said: “They are getting 1,300 through the door and it’s with coaching as well.
“He said it was a difficult decision.
“There’s been some really good experiences. He’s been great for us.
“He has had a great presence and one that we will miss.”
Weaver said he wished to work alongside White again in the future, with the defender seeking a coaching career after he hangs up his boots.
“He’s a good man to know in the game,” added Town’s chief.
“I want to keep our lines open. I got on really well with Whitey. We see eye to eye.”
White told the club’s website: “Making the decision to leave Harrogate was a really tough one.
“I’ve had a fantastic time since joining two years ago. Working alongside Simon and Macca has been an absolute pleasure.”
