Meanwhile, Jack Diamond also returned to the club having been briefly recalled from his season-long loan by parent club Sunderland.
In terms of players moving in the opposite direction, Simon Weaver opted to sell one member of his squad, while letting two make temporary switches to the National League.
Assessing the club's transfer dealings this month, the Sulphurites boss reflected: "We're pleased with the business we've done and I'm happy with what we've got."
Having had chance to take stock following the closing of the window, Weaver has offered the following assessment on each individual deal.

5. Leon Legge (Port Vale)
"I wanted Leggey a year ago. We tried to sign him then. He adds experience and will provide real competition in the centre-half position. He's that dominant defender, like Rory McArdle, who we've needed."

6. Calum Kavanagh (Middlesbrough, loan)
"We've been aware of Calum for a while and watched a lot of video footage. We're really pleased to have been able to bring him in because I didn't expect that we would be able to prize him away from Middlesbrough. We needed a striker who could offer the same kind of attributes that we rely on Jack Muldoon for."

7. Connor Hall (Port Vale, undisclosed)
"He's been a great servant but was making a five-hour round trip to get to training every day and I simply don't think that doing so was enabling him to maximise his talent."

8. Aaron Martin (FC Halifax Town, loan)
"There's something there for him to really get his teeth into. We hope he goes to Halifax and nails it in the National League. The door certainly isn't closed for Aaron here. We just want him to go and get games under his belt and have the opportunity to score some goals."
