Jack Muldoon's brace ensured that the Wetherby Road outfit chalked up their fourth win in seven League Two outings, a promising start to their debut season in the EFL which leaves them fourth in the table.

And Sulphurites boss Weaver revealed that he was pleased with almost all aspects of his players' display against the Mariners, even stating that he felt that they had played their best football since securing promotion from the National League this summer.

"This was a terrific performance, particularly first half where we passed it really well. It was slick, it was sharp and incisive

"They were probably new levels that we saw in the first half from what we've seen so far this season, it was great. The balance of the team looked good.

"Second half, there were different challenges because they threw a centre-half up front and threw [James] Hanson on off the bench, but our centre-halves came out on top.

"We defended our box well. There was some real brave stuff at the back, but it's not just about being courageous physically, the lads were reading the game.

"The mindset was strong as well. All together it was very good. We looked a together unit. We found a way to win, and that's absolutely brilliant."

The only real negative in terms of Town's performance on the night was their failure to convert a series of golden chances and put the game to bed.

George Thomson somehow cleared the cross-bar from inside the six-yard box when it looked easier to score, while Aaron Martin twice missed the target from dangerous positions and even two-goal Muldoon could have ended the night with a couple more strikes to his name.

"It would be nice to one day actually really benefit from all these chances that we are creating," Weaver added.

"I was delighted with the attacking play, but you've just got to make sure that you win those games where you play so well because you'll look back with a lot of regret if you don't.

"It was difficult at half-time because you have to try and get the right balance. Picking spots off it, we could have been 4-1 or 5-1 up, but I said that we just have to keep striving for more.

"I said 'don't come off it, because we'll only regret it', but overall, it was a brilliant night for us."
