Ainge said: "I definitely want to achieve something with this team and I want to continue to improve myself.

"I am happy to be teaming up with Danny (Ellis) again, as I feel we have a really strong connection on the pitch. "Of course it will be difficult because the league is going to be strong again this year but I can’t wait for the challenge.

“Every player wants to be successful and Harrogate are a club on the up. I’ve come here to win the league.”

Ainge began his career at Bradford City and spent three seasons playing for Guiseley before joining Luton Town.

He was released by Luton in July 2013 and subsequently joined Halifax.

Boss Simon Weaver said: “He is a great player, with proven quality at this level.

"I have watched and admired Simon for some time as he has all the attributes I look for in a Harrogate Town player.”
