Seventh heaven for Harrogate Railway following New Mills win

Miller’s Railway side scored three goals in the second half to down lowly New Mills 3-0 at Station View.

The goals, from Nathan Cartman, Malachi Farquharson and substitute Stephen Bromley, delighted the boss as it provided a seventh win a row.

It is the hottest streak of form Railway have had since their promotion to the Evo-Stik First Division North seven seasons ago, bettering the six consecutive wins over the Christmas of 2010.

“What an achievement,” said Miller. “For Railway, it’s phenomenal.”

Railway’s form has left them just three points off the play-off places, with fifth spot currently occupied by North Yorkshire rivals Scarborough Athletic.

However, Miller was quick to point out the difficulties that lie ahead. Railway’s next visit a Brighouse Town (Saturday) side still brimming with confidence after earning promotion last season, before home ties against big-spending Spennymoor Town and Salford City.

A Yorkshire derby at sixth-placed Farsley will culminate Railway’s Christmas period and Miller believes six points from the four matches would keep his side on track.

He added: “The people at the club are quite rightly excited, but we still have to manage that expectation.

“We have to work out what we do next, we have four massive games coming up over Christmas and when we get to the other side, it will be a true reflection of where we are.

“If we come out of our Christmas period with six points, we have to be really happy.
