Premier Division leaders Ripon City travel to high-flying Division One Hunslet Club for a mouth watering League Cup tie on Saturday (kick-off 1.30pm).
Free-scoring Hunslet have scored 35 times in a six-match winning run, conceding eight goals.
City have made a blistering start to the season, but boss Paul Vincent has warned his troops progression on Saturday is far from assured.
He said: “We played Hunslet pre-season and they beat us.
“We had players out, but we will need to be at our best this weekend.
“They are doing very well in the first division.”
He added: “We need to get back on a winning run, winning is a great habit to be in, it keeps the supporters happy.”
Vincent is looking ahead to matches against the top West Yorks Premier Division sides.
He said: “We have the top teams still to play, but we are worrying about ourselves.
“There is a long way to go in the league, and we are not getting carried away, but it is a great feeling when you are top of the league.”
City did not have a game on Saturday.
Ben Cohen has impressed since his return to action this month, but James Charles is struggling with a knee injury.
The manager is pleased with the commitment his players have shown so far this season.
He said: “I couldn’t have asked for more from the players, they have just got on with the job.
“If they haven’t been picked, they are disappointed but they never moan.
“All I can ask is for that same commitment for the rest of the season.”
City remain in the hunt for league, League Cup and Whitworth Cup glory.
The manager said: “We have played more league games than anyone else, so if we did go on a cup run, it wouldn’t affect our league form.
“It would be a travesty if we got to the end of the season without winning anything.”
