Republic of Ireland under-21 international winger Simon Power has joined the North Yorkshire club on a permanent deal from Championship outfit Norwich City.

The 22-year-old, who was on loan with National League Kings Lynn prior to signing for Town, has a reputation for his direct running style and ability to beat defenders.

"I'm absolutely delighted to be here. I feel like with my attributes I can really help the team progress," Power said.

"My main attributes would probably be my pace and power. I'm a winger by trade and like to get at defenders, cause problems, make runs in behind.

"I feel like most teams need someone like myself with a bit of pace, I can get the team up the pitch and also chip in with a goal or assist well.

"I feel like I'll fit right into this team."

Power joined Norwich from League of Ireland first division outfit University College Dublin in 2018 and, prior to his two spells with Kings Lynn, has also spent time out on loan with Dutch side Dordrecht and Ross County of the Scottish Premier League.

And, he feels that his experience of playing senior football in four different countries over the last few years has undoubtedly helped him develop as a player.

"Back in Ireland, when I was 17 I was playing men's football, so I'm very comfortable playing men's football and I'm used to it," Power added.

"My first loan was to Holland, it's quite different to Ireland or Scotland. It's all very technical, they like to play football all on the ground. From that side of things, it really helped my game.

"Then, going up to Scotland it's a lot more physical, a bit like the National League. It really toughened me up.

"At Kings Lynn, I was playing regularly, we were doing well and I was playing well myself.

"So, all aspects of the game I feel like I've improved, but I'm still young and I've time to develop and that's why I'm here."

Power will wear the number 30 shirt at Harrogate and is available to make his debut against Exeter City on Tuesday evening.
