Tadcaster Albion got back to winning ways in the league with a 5-0 victory away at Athersley Recreation.
Josh Greening opened the scoring after just five minutes with George Conway doubling Taddy’s lead as the half drew to a close.
Billy Miller’s men went from strength to strength in the second half and completed the rout through Liam Ormsby, Adam Baker and Nick Black.
Miller named an unchanged starting eleven to the side that won at Hebburn Town in the FA Cup, although Baker and Danny Stimpson returned to the bench alongside new signing Dan Clayton.
It didn’t take long for Taddy to be celebrating on an otherwise miserable night in Barnsley.
A lofted cross was aimed at Black who managed to divert into the path of Greening to stroke the ball past the goalkeeper with ease.
The away side were dominating the match; and when Athersley did get a slight bit of room to get a shot away, Andy Milne was there to put in a terrific block.
The Brewers came close again in the 42nd minute as Jimmy Beadle drove up the pitch, played a one-two with Black and fired one of his trademark long range strikes towards goal, however the effort was comfortably beaten away.
Taddy doubled their lead right on the stroke of half-time when Athersley goalkeeper Richard Watson had to hurry his clearance and as a result could only clear as far as Conway who struck a half-volley into the empty net from 40 yards.
Into the second half and Taddy came close to netting a third thirteen minutes in as Paddy Miller’s whipped free-kick was sliced inches over the crossbar by an Athersley defender.
The rain started come down heavily as opportunities flooded in for the away side with Josh Barrett teeing up Conway eight yards out only for the Athersley stopper to save what looked like a certain goal.
Just seconds later, Conway was at the heart of the action again as the resulting corner dropped to his feet, although his spinning shot was hooked off the line.
With 16 minutes left on the clock Taddy got their third. Black was brought down inside the area after Beadle’s shot was too hot to handle and Ormsby stepped up to score his fourth penalty in four games.
Four minutes later, goal number four followed as Black intelligently rolled the ball to substitute Baker waiting on the edge of the box to confidently side foot the ball into the top corner.
Baker turned provider for Taddy’s fifth and final strike as his beautifully weighted pass saw Black spring the offside trap, race through on goal and calmly roll the ball round the goalkeeper and into the back of the net.
