NCEL: Play-off hunting Knaresborough Town recruit Harrogate Railway man Simon Parkes
Knaresborough Town have signed Harrogate Railway utility man Simon Parkes to bolster their late play-off challenge.
Parkes has cut a frustrated figure at Station View after falling down the pecking order since the arrivals of loanee Matty Lovegreen and Luca Mellor.
He has made 20 appearances at right-back for Railway this season but was an unused sub in the 2-2 draw at Witton Albion on Monday night.
Parkes, who is also a keen golfer at Pannal Golf Club, missed the majority of last season after suffering knee ligament damage,
He becomes the third player to swap Station View for Manse Lane this season, following Fatlum Ibrahimi and Mike Morris.
The defender will also reunite with brother Ben at Knaresborough. However, he remain registered at Railway and boss Lee Ashforth said he could still feature in the club's Evo-Stik survival bid.
Rail' boss Lee Ashforth said: "Since his suspension his chances have been limited and I want him ready for our run in.
"Additionally, it is great to be able to help Paul Stansfield and Knaresborough Town in their push for promotion.
"Simon is not only a great player, but a great friend and after discussions with him I want him to be happy playing games.
"I sincerely hope to have him back with us before our season ends."
Knaresborough sit six points off the play-off places in NCEL Division One after beating Dronfield Town 3-1 onTuesday night.
Brad Walker was on target twice while Ibrahimi sealed the win in the 86th minute,
