Mission accomplished for Miller’s three-year plat at Harrogate Railway

Miller has hailed his over-achieving side throughout the 2014/15 campaign, and the Railwaymen came up trumps again on Saturday with two late goals to hold promotion hunting Northwich Victoria to a 2-2 draw.

The point was 18th out of 30 against the league’s top five sides this season, and showed Miller once again that he has assembled a team good enough to thwart any side in the league.

In that haul, Miller’s men took a maximum six points off Salford City, who were crowned as Evo-Stik First Division North champions on Tuesday.

“That is some acheivement as a club, and it has to be down to the players that have been involved,” said the boss.

“When I joined three years ago, I said we would get them to a stage where they can compete in the league. I think we can safely say we have done that.

“It’s the end of a chapter, but we have to go onto the next one now.

“Whilst we originally came in with a three year plan, now we will start looking at individual aims on a year to year basis. We have to consolidate what we have achieved and work out how we fine tune it.”

Spectators will be given free entry for Saturday’s last game of the season, with Lancaster City arriving at Station View.

With a first top half finish already ensured, victory against the side below them would mean they would finish no less than four wins away from the play-off places.

“Expectations will obviously go through the roof and we have to manage those,” added Miller.

Rail’ have scored 82 goals in the league this year, with Evo-Stik player of the year Nathan Cartman banging in 32 before his move to Darlington.

Fellow striker Malachi Farquharson has often had to play second fiddle, but his two late strikes on Saturday rescued the 2-2 draw at Northwich.

Miller said the powerful frontman has had a “phenomenal season”.

The gaffer also urged football fans across the area to take advantage of the club’s generosity on Saturday and show their support to the players that have taken them to a record breaking campaign.

The club’s season awards will follow the action in the clubhouse,

“It’s a nice way of saying thank-you for all that has been involved,” Milelr said.

“Hopefully for the people that are out there that haven’t been before, we can show them what this club is all about.

“If we could get anywhere near the 400 that turned up for the free day against Salford City, it would be a fitting reward for the lads that have played.”
