Harrogate Railway gaffer Billy Miller believes the town should get excited ahead of Conference side FC Halifax Town’s visit on Monday.

Railway welcome the Skrill Premier side in the West Riding County Cup at Station View, for a 7.45pm kick-off.

Despite insisting the league was priority, Miller admitted excitement at pitting his wits against a side fighting for league status.

He said: “They are the biggest team in the West Riding. It will be a great night. Hopefully it will capture the imagination. “It’s got to be a worthwhile exercise.

“It’s great for the town to see a Conference team in Harrogate.”

Former Harrogate Town gaffer Neil Aspin led Halifax to Skrill North promotion last season, and his side have held their own this season in 11th.

Railway will travel to Evo-Stik basement boys Ossett Albion two days before Halifax come to town.

But Miller dismissed their league struggles meant it was an easy clash.

“There’s a misconception hat just because they are bottom means they are a bad side,” he added.

“They are not. It will be a difficult game.”
