Louie Swain to fight for Harrogate Town stay on non contract terms

The recruitment of former Guiseley captain Ben Parker and Weaver’s decision to add an extra day of training next season had cast doubt on Swain’s future at Town.

Swain has yet to agree a new contract at his home town club but will start next season on non-contract registration terms.

The young left-back has been given a six-week time frame to force his way back into the selection reckoning.

Weaver had stated that he wanted the former Bradford City graduate to stay put and believes Parker’s arrival will improve Swain as a player.

However, the boss revealed last week that the defender was attempting to reshuffle work commitments to get clearance to train each Monday.

“I am keen to keep him involved with the club. It’s down to the player to where he sees himself in it all,” said Weaver.

“There’s no one more committed than Louie. He wants to make it as a footballer but sometimes in life it’s not as straightforward as that.”
