The striker went down holding his knee in the second half of Wednesday night's 1-0 defeat against AFC Fylde and was replaced by Jack Emmett.

Simon Weaver revealed the former Goole AFC forward had suffered medial ligament damage and will sit out Sunday's reverse leg and the final should Town get there.

Weaver also confirmed Thewlis would remain part of the Town set-up next season.

Thewlis joined Town from Goole in December 2014 and helped the club move away from the relegation zone at the end of last season.

He has found the net five times in 24 appearances for Town this season, largely operating up front or on the wing.
