Knaresborough Town made a return to winning ways having dropped their first points of the campaign in midweek, easing past Winterton Rangers on Saturday.
Paul Stansfield’s men drew 0-0 at AFC Emley on Wednesday evening, but claimed their tenth victory in 11 NCEL Division One outings when they triumphed 3-0 in North Lincolnshire.
An early goal, which had not been forthcoming in Town’s previous three games, arrived with just 11 minutes on the clock.
Blaine Hobson turned well and fired into the top left corner of the net after Will Lenehan headed back a Tom Hesketh free-kick and Gregg Anderson knocked the ball forward to the striker.
Harry Brown then saw two efforts saved in quick succession by home custodian Miles Fenty, the second being a snap-shot from Greg Kidd’s cross, but Kidd soon had to leave the field having turned an ankle.
Another Brown volley was also kept out by Fenty before Hobson struck a fine shot against the outside of a post and Brad Walker sent two powerful strikes over the bar before half-time.
Early in the second period, Anderson had a powerful header saved by Fenty and Hesketh fired narrowly wide.
Walker then ran on to Anderson’s header only to shoot just wide of the far post before Winterton rallied briefly, with two long-range efforts from Luke Anderson coming close, one actually hitting the top of Jack Rushworth’s bar.
Rushworth then saved from Eliot Broughton before Knaresborough added to their lead in the 68th minute when Hesketh fired home a penalty after Ben Parkes was tripped in the area.
Brown had another strike tipped wide and Walker also shot against a post after Steve Bromley headed on a forward pass.
Walker then ran on to Brown’s through-ball, beat Fenty, and fired into an empty net, reaping some reward for his hard work on the day.
In the closing stages, Kieran Wressle shot over for the home side before Paul Atkinson had an effort kept out by Fenty as Knaresborough recovered their four-point advantage at the top of the league table.
