Knaresborough Town made it four wins from four in NCEL Division One when they beat Campion 2-0 away from home.
Paul Stansfield’s men were made to work hard by their hosts, but eventually picked up another deserved three points, extending their 100 per cent start to the 2017/18 campaign.
Harry Brown saw an early effort saved before Blaine Hobson ran on to a Ben Parkes pass and fired a fine shot across the Campion goalkeeper and into the net to hand his side a 13th-minute lead.
Daniel Armitage in the home goal then tipped over another Hobson effort and saved a Brad Walker header from Paul Atkinson’s centre.
Robbie Graham shot wide for Campion from some way out, but Knaresborough were soon back on the attack and Walker’s shot was saved, as was Hobson’s free-kick before an effort from Aidan Day was scrambled away at the other end.
In the second minute of added-time at the end of the first half, Tom Hesketh’s free-kick evaded a defender and Sam Cook found space to slam home Town’s second of the afternoon.
After the break, Kieron Batey hit over for Campion and Parkes was off target for Knaresborough, but the hosts kept coming and Anthony Brown headed over from a corner before Jack Rushworth caught a Batey free-kick.
Rushworth then set Hobson away down the left and his cross was hit toward goal by Walker, only for Armitage to turn the effort away.
Hobson had another strike saved and then saw a header pushed against the crossbar by Armitage with the ball falling to Dom Wilson who rushed his shot and fired the rebound over the top.
Rushworth had to tip over from Talent Ndlovo late on before Knaresborough finished on top with two more Walker efforts off target, the second a glancing header from Brown’s free-kick.
