James Walshaw ends Harrogate Town’s away-day misfortune
James Walshaw’s early goal was enough for Town to end their away-day hoodoo as they picked up three points on their travels for only the second time this season.
It moved Town into 12th and eight points away from the play-off zone, which Weaver still feels is an achievable aim this year.
He said: “It was a great win as it’s always a hard place to go.
“We needed to improve our away form and we were very determined to do it on Tuesday night.
“We have a point to prove away from home and we still have to prove that. But we were pleased to bag that three points and now we have to build on it and produce more performances like that.
“It’s reasonable to think we can still get up there but it’s not going to be easy and we do need to improve certain factors of our game.”
Luke Dean and Leigh Franks are back from loan spells at Harrogate Railway and Buxton respectively and could feature.
Weaver had a six-month playing stint at Kings Lynn and he knows, like Colwyn Bay, it’s a tough place to visit for an away team.
The boss added: “We all want to do well in this competition as it’s a prestigious cup at this level. I used to play there and they have quite a hostile home support.
“It’s a tricky tie, but if we show the same resolve, we will have a good chance.”
