Boss Simon Weaver has regularly praised the winger’s infectious enthusiasm and has given him a free rein down the wings.

Weaver said: “He deserves it.

“He has done everything we have wanted him to do. He must be a contender for player of the month.”

However, Ashley Worsfold has been sent to Leamington on a month’s loan.

The striker has struggled to force his way back into the team after returning last month from a broken leg sustained in pre-season.

Town favourite Craig Nelthorpe has also left the club, after deciding to move to Australia.

The fiery midfielder joined Town at the start of the 2013/14 season and scored four goals in 34 games last year.

However, opportunities were limited this season and he fell out of the Town team in January before joining Buxton on loan last month.

Meanwhile, Weaver rued poor defending against long throw-ins as his side were held late on by bottom side Hyde on Saturday.

Paul Clayton had fired Town in front from close range eight minutes before half-time, but the relegation contenders ruined Weaver’s hopes of a third straight league win when Perry Ng scrambled home an equaliser in injury-time.

The boss said: “We should have had the game nailed after the hour mark. We had one on one opportunities with their keeper but he had a stormer, and sometimes that happens.”

Weaver’s 12th-placed side welcome Welsh outfit Colwyn Bay to the CNG Stadium on Saturday.

Bay lie third bottom in Vanarama Conference North.
