Victory for relegation rivals Hall Road Rangers saw them move ahead of Marlon Adams’ side on goal-difference, however the Hull outfit have played four games less than the Railwaymen.

And with seven matches to play in the space of just 15 days, the Starbeck club face a real battle if they are to survive.

“It’s going to be very hard with so many fixtures in such a short space of time,” boss Adams said.

“After playing Saturday we now have games on Monday and then Wednesday. The younger lads will be okay, but for the more experienced players it might be a case of the head saying ‘yes’ but the body saying ‘no’.

“We just have to keep going and try to get as many points as we can on the board this week and see where it leaves us. I’m still hopeful that we can get back out of the relegation zone.”

In a fairly even contest at Station View, Railway created the better chances with Nathan Alexander twice going close and Josh Underwood seeing his long-range lob beat the Albion keeper but bounce off the top of the cross-bar.

At the other end, the home defence kept things tight to record a first clean-sheet since Adams took over in November, although stopper Chris Senior was required to make two important saves.

“A draw was probably a fair result, but we probably had the better chances and I think we could have nicked it,” Adams added.

“I’m pleased with the clean-sheet and we are definitely looking more solid at the back, so that’s a positive that we need to build on.

“The only problem is that we now don’t seem to be creating as many chances at the other end which is something we will have to look at.”

The Rail host fifth-placed Maltby Main on Monday evening then Penistone Church (7th) on Wednesday. Both matches kick-off at 7.45pm.
